What is GAIA-X?

GAIA-X for Finland is a Finnish initiative to ensure that Finnish data business ecosystem partners can bring in their incentives and targets to GAIA-X for and to create a meaningful contribution to its evolution.

Focusing on Data Infrastructure

GAIA-X aims to specify a common data infrastructure whose use will span across businesses, governments and personal data. It aims to evolve to a tree-like structure of roles that both federate and exploit data. Collaboration in organising the Finnish branch is therefore essential.

Creating an Ecosystem

The preparation phase of the GAIA-X Hub for Finland is coordinated by the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra, under the funding of Business Finland and patronage of Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment. Its plan, however, is to transform to a set of co-innovation activities in which the roles needed in federation and coordination are populated by relevant companies and organisations, and exploitation practices for different domains are fine-tuned by respective companies.  All this is to be done in close collaboration with European GAIA-X project.

European GAIA-X

European GAIA-X aims at developing common requirements for a European data infrastructure. Therefore openness, transparency and the ability to connect to other European countries are central to GAIA-X. Representatives from seven European countries are currently involved in the project. GAIA-X is in continuous exchange with the European Commission.
